[MP3] apolar. – “she’s a monster.”

“Ripping through cables and sounding like ice-cold glaciers scraping against each other, apolar. from Bloomington, Ill. takes everything you thought you knew about independently produced post-rock and turns it on it’s head.”

It would be hard to pin a description on the Illinois based post-rock/experimental duo (TJ Fulfer, Dan Bretz) apolar. any better than they could above, so there’s really no point in trying. With punctuation placed freely and capitalization uncommon throughout their work, apolar. is making leaps in advancing an often stagnant genre. They just set a March release date for their sophomore album i just want to set the world on fire. and their debut the design. was released only four months ago with Posters On Walls Records. It can be downloaded for free at the band’s bandcamp page.

“she’s a monster.” is the first look inside their upcoming album, and is, just like all previous recordings, lyric-less. Any aspect you think is lost with a lack of vocals is made up with heart-wrenching guitar riffs and a progression that pulls you along and leaves you itching for more. It’s post-rock with an attitude.
